clara, sunnyvale and campbell and mountain view. there are 62 convenient stops along the system, including: residential areas of south san jose, downtown san jose, san jose civic center, north first street high-tech area, paramount's great america theme park, tasman drive high-tech and residential areas, downtown campbell, lockheed martin, middlefield road industrial areas, and downtown mountain view. light rail service is provided seven days a week to serve silicon valley's round-the-clock lifestyle. the system provides links with dozens of vta bus routes and employer shuttles, as well as with caltrain commuter rail in san jose and downtown mountain view, and the altamont commuter express (ace) at the lick mill station in santa clara. for those who wish to drive to light rail, there are 14 park & ride lots where you can leave your vehicle. or, if you choose to bicycle to light rail, you can sign up for bike lockers located along the line, or simply take your bike on board. all vta light rail stations are in compliance with the americans with disabilities act (ada) and have a wayside lift on each platform. light rail fares are the same as those charged for regular vta bus routes. all light rail stations have ticket vending machines, from which you can purchase single ride tickets good for two hours, or a day pass good for unlimited rides on the day purchased. you can also purchase a monthly flash pass at one of many vta ticket outlets (click on the “fares” link from the vta home page) or by contacting vta at (408) 321-2300 or (408) 321-2330 (tdd only) for the tickets by mail program.  go to top free light rail shuttle service vta, in cooperation with the transportation fund for clean air, the bay area air quality management district and participating employers, operate free shuttle buses from several light rail stations directly to various employment centers. vta has been operating the light rail shuttle bus program since 1988 when the first two light rail shuttles were introduced to the public. the program was implemented soon after the opening of the vta light rail guadalupe line to provide convenient connections to major employment centers, and thus, encourage use of the light rail system. currently, there are a total of five light rail shuttles, two of which also serve caltrain. downtown light rail shuttle also known as the dash, for the downtown area shuttle, this service circulates on a fixed-route through downtown san jose and connects with downtown light rail stations as well as the san jose diridon caltrain station. you can use the shuttle to make direct connections from light rail or caltrain with employment sites such as adobe systems, pg&e, wells fargo, comerica bank, downtown hotels, and many other businesses. you may also make connections with san jose state university and other bus routes, and transfer from caltrain to light rail and vice versa. great america light rail shuttle from two hours before great america opens until one hour after the park closes, this shuttle operates on a fixed-route and connects the old ironsides light rail station with paramounts’ great america amusement park in santa clara. the shuttle provides service to the main customer entrance of the park and to the employee entrance. ibm light rail shuttle the ibm light rail shuttle connects with the santa teresa light rail station as well as the blossom hill caltrain station. service is provided to various ibm facilities through a combination of fixed-route service during peak commute hours and demand-response service form 6:00 am to 6:00 pm kaiser/veterans affairs light rail shuttle this shuttle connects with the cottle light rail station. service is provided throughout the day from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm a combination of fixed-route and demand-response service can take you to santa teresa community hospital and various other kaiser facilities as well as the veterans affairs (va) outpatient clinic in south san jose. river oaks light rail shuttle this shuttle connects with the river oaks light rail station. it not only connects you to employment sites, but it also provides a convenient connection between a residential development and light rail. the shuttle operates on a fixed-route. serving the river oaks residential and industrial parks during peak commute hours, you can make connections with cadence, sony, data quest, and other corporations. you can also begin your daily commute to work by boarding the shuttle in the morning at residential complexes including the
